Case Study
Women: Confidence and capability
Situation
The UK division of a leading technology consultancy sought to increase the confidence, resilience and career progression of women across the organisation
While an active Women’s Network was already in place, several challenges continued to hold back progress:
- Women remained less visible across the business
- Allyship from male colleagues was inconsistent
- Many women reported a lack of confidence in pivotal moments – whether applying for promotion, speaking up, or stepping into leadership.
The organisation recognised that addressing this required more than support networks alone; it needed to equip women with practical, actionable skills while also shifting broader cultural awareness.
Strategy
Our approach combined individual capability-building with collective engagement. The focus was twofold:
- to give women the tools and techniques to succeed in real, high-stakes moments
- to actively involve the wider organisation in supporting their progression.
This meant designing learning that was practical and immediately applicable, creating an inclusive environment where both men and women could participate, and grounding the experience in the everyday leadership situations that directly influence career advancement.
Intervention
To bring this to life, we delivered a series of high-impact, interactive online masterclasses through the Women’s Network.
The content focused on personal brand, executive presence and storytelling – capabilities closely linked to visibility and influence. Each session blended insight with application, combining relevant theory, practical strategies and live rehearsal. Participants worked through real workplace scenarios, allowing them to practise and refine their approach in a safe, engaging environment that also encouraged open discussion and strengthened allyship.
Impact
The impact was both immediate and sustained.
- Attendance grew across the series, with high return rates signalling strong engagement.
- Participants reported increased confidence in speaking up, presenting and actively pursuing opportunities.
- The practical nature of the tools meant they could be applied straight away in day-to-day work, while the emphasis on rehearsal deepened learning and improved retention.
The bottom line
By combining practical skill-building with inclusive dialogue, the programme empowered women to step forward – and helped the organisation create a more supportive, progression-focused culture.
